Area 51 is a new service for people with severe learning difficulties based in Wood Green. There are three different aspects to our work - learning, living and working.
Learning: with two courses offering a 5-day curriculum to young people, aged 19 - 25, with severe, complex or profound learning difficulties, we are able to meet most individual needs and support continued learning for youngsters leaving school. Living: with so many hours in the day, Area 51 is working with local partners and people with learning difficulties to extend the range of activities available in the borough of Haringey. Activities include adult education classes, social activities and clubs and holiday schemes. Working: as a social enterprise, Area 51 is committed to employing people with learning difficulties to help us run our organisation. To support the development of work skills, we run Pathways to Work, a bespoke programme for young people with severe learning difficulties, who would like to work in the future. |
