John Dewey Specialist College works hard to provide an excellent value-for-money service and uses a transparent and robust funding approach for each service.

Specialist College Provision

Applications to John Dewey Specialist College are calculated using 15-minute time intervals to calculate exact delivery costs per student across education, health and care activities.  These costs are presented using the home Local Authority's High Needs funding application form.

Some students may be eligible for a student bursary and for free school meals - our policy on Bursary and Free School Meals is available on our Policies page.

Post-College Provision

The post-college provision has a basic cost per day of £92.50.  This includes regular curricula activities, breakfast club and lunch.  There is an additional 1:1 support charge of £18.50 / hour for additional needs such positive behaviour support or specific medical procedures.  This charge is calculated in 15-minute intervals.  Occasionally, you may be asked for a contribution towards one-off or high-cost activities such as bowling, theatre trips etc.
