Area 51 Adult Social Education Centre
About us
Our vision
Creating opportunities that matter.
At 15A, we want to provide a service that provides adults with learning disabilities with opportunities to live a meaningful and healthy life, to have control over their lives and to feel included and valued in their local communities. Our staff support people to communicate, make choices, develop skills and enjoy being part of their community. We’re looking for people who take time to understand each individual and help them get the most from their day.
Our service objectives are:
-
Developing a broad offer that allows people to select activities that suit their interests, needs and abilities;
-
Promoting the development of skills, knowledge and relationships that enable people to live happy, healthy lifestyles;
-
Developing a flexible offer that enables families to utilise the service at the times they need;
-
Offering a service that is targeted at 19 – 40 year olds, reflecting the likely lifestyle patterns of this age-cohort;
-
Promoting positive community relationships, utilising community-based resources wherever possible;
-
Continuously reviewing our offer to individual people to ensure it always reflects what each person needs.
If this sounds like the kind of service you want to play a key role in helping to create, please apply for one of our vacancies. You can find current vacancies under Work for us - we'd love to hear from you!

Growing great carers.
Great care starts with people who are supported to grow. At 15A, we are committed to giving our staff the training, encouragement and practical guidance they need to become skilled, confident and thoughtful carers. We want our team to feel proud of their work, understand the difference they make and have opportunities to develop their talents.
We are particularly keen to welcome young people starting their working lives and to support apprenticeship opportunities that combine learning with meaningful, practical experience. We also value the understanding and perspective that life experience brings. Whether you are beginning your career, changing direction or bringing years of experience, we would love to hear from you.
What matters to us is warmth, patience, a willingness to learn and a genuine commitment to people with learning difficulties. With the right support, these qualities can become the foundation of exceptional care - care that recognises each person’s strengths, respects their choices and helps them achieve their potential in ways that matter to them.
Our Story
15A opened in September 2025, moving from a site shared with John Dewey Specialist College to dedicated premises in Hornsey, North London. It is intended to provide a post-education opportunity for young adults with learning difficulties to continue to grow and thrive within a community setting. Offering both community-based and centre-based activities, 15A aims to strengthen relationships between the people using our services and the surrounding neighbourhood. We are always keen to build new partnerships with local groups, businesses and individuals who would like to support people with learning difficulties to form friendships, social netowrks and discover new activities.
